What is Bienox 100 Units?

Bienox is a botulinum toxin type A (botox) made by Korea BNC in South Korea.

Korea BNC Co., Ltd. of Daegu, South Korea, is the maker and licence holder. Bienox was registered as an export item on 13 January 2020 and as a domestic item on 21 March 2024. In South Korea it is classed as a prescription medicine.

In South Korea, Dongkook Pharmaceutical holds exclusive domestic distribution. The registration can be searched in the drug database of South Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS).

What Bienox contains

The active ingredient is the toxin of Clostridium botulinum, type A, at 100 Units per vial. The other ingredients are sodium chloride and human serum albumin.

Dissolved in normal saline it gives a clear, colourless solution.

What the Korean label lists

The Korean label lists the temporary improvement of moderate to severe glabellar (frown) lines linked to corrugator and procerus muscle activity, in adults aged 19 to 65.
