What is Platinum PLA Peel?
Platinum PLA Peel is a two-step ampoule peeling set whose carton is printed PHA + LHA + PLATINUM Peeling Solution. All label text is in English.
In short
- The set has two tubes marked STEP 1 AMPOULE and STEP 2 AMPOULE, and the order of use follows what is printed on the tubes.
- It is an acid peel built on PHA and LHA, unlike the agents DermNet lists as common in superficial peels: glycolic acid, salicylic acid and Jessner solution.
- A trained skin provider assesses the skin and decides how to use the set from its label.
Which skin needs assessing first?
DermNet notes that people with Fitzpatrick skin types IV to VI carry a higher risk of pigment change after peels, so peeling needs care and informed consent, and lighter peels are generally chosen.
Tell the provider about allergy to acids or ingredients, sensitive skin, creams or tablets that affect the skin, and recent procedures. The provider decides whether to proceed, postpone or choose another approach.
Who performs the peel, and aftercare
DermNet states that superficial peels may be done by a nurse or aesthetician, while medium and deep peels are usually done by a dermatologist or plastic surgeon.
After a superficial peel mild redness and occasional swelling are described. Protect the skin from the sun with sunscreen, follow the provider's instructions, and contact the provider promptly about anything unexpected.
Frequently asked questions
What does PHA mean?
PHA stands for polyhydroxy acids, a group that includes lactobionic acid and gluconolactone. The Journal of Investigative Dermatology published a study of both on volunteers' skin.
What is an LHA peel?
LHA is the name used for capryloyl salicylic acid, a salicylic acid derivative. One study, supported by L'Oreal, compared LHA peels with glycolic acid peels.
What is a chemical peel?
A chemical peel applies a chemical to resurface the skin. DermNet divides peels into superficial, medium and deep levels, and the provider chooses the level for each person's skin.
Is a PLA peel the same thing as PLLA?
No. PLA is part of the model name. PLLA is poly-L-lactic acid, an injectable material grouped with skin boosters in an Archives of Plastic Surgery review, while the carton of Platinum PLA Peel reads PHA + LHA.
How much is Platinum PLA Peel?
The price depends on the model and the quantity.
