Dermalax Deep Plus is a cross-linked hyaluronic acid filler with 0.3% lidocaine, made by Across Co., Ltd. of South Korea, in a 1.1 ml pre-filled syringe.
HA, or hyaluronic acid, is something the body already makes. Cross-linking turns the HA in a filler into a gel, and the lidocaine packed in the same syringe is a local anaesthetic.
A 2024 review of how HA fillers are manufactured, published in Polymers, says most start with HA grown by microbial fermentation, which is then cross-linked so that enzymes break it down less readily.
According to the US FDA, filler injection is a medical procedure for a licensed provider who has been trained in it, never a do-it-yourself job. Bruising, redness, swelling, pain, tenderness, itching and rash are the common effects; lumps, infection and allergy are seen less often; and the rare serious event is injection into a blood vessel, which may lead to tissue death, vision problems or stroke.
Before injection, mention skin inflammation or infection, a bleeding disorder, a history of severe allergy, allergy to lidocaine or other ingredients, a tendency to raised scars, and pregnancy or breastfeeding. The doctor makes the call person by person.
Unusual pain, a change in vision, or pale, grey or bluish skin around the injection site calls for prompt medical attention.
Dermalax Deep Plus carries the same risks as other HA fillers: the US FDA lists bruising, redness, swelling and pain as the common ones, and serious events as very rare. The injecting doctor assesses your own risks before starting.
Each syringe holds 1.1 ml (cc), and this box has a single syringe with two 27G needles.
Deep Plus has HA at 24 mg/ml, 27G needles and 1 syringe per box. Plus uses HA at 20 mg/ml with 30G needles, and Implant Plus gives 25G needles with 2 syringes. The doctor picks the version.
There is no single figure, because it depends on the area, the technique and the person, and the injecting doctor explains it for your case. What the US FDA says is that the HA in some fillers is gradually broken down by the body.
The ClinicalTrials.gov registry (NCT02179619) holds a study sponsored by Across that compared Dermalax (Deep) with Restylane in the nasolabial folds, run at two university hospitals in Seoul and completed in February 2014. Full details are on the registry.
The price depends on the model and the quantity.
