Juvederm Ultra 2 is a cross-linked hyaluronic acid gel filler with lidocaine from Allergan, an AbbVie company, made in France. It is a ready-to-use gel in single-use syringes.
The maker's leaflet describes Juvederm Ultra 2 as an injectable implant for filling medium-sized skin depressions by mid-dermis injection, and for lip definition. It is for intradermal injection and injection into the lip mucosa only.
The leaflet says not to inject the eyelids, and to leave the under-eye area to specialists trained in that technique. The doctor chooses the area, depth and technique for each person.
The leaflet lists these as reasons not to use it: untreated epilepsy, a tendency to hypertrophic scarring, hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid or gram-positive bacterial proteins, hypersensitivity to lidocaine or amide-type local anaesthetics, porphyria, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and use in children.
Skin that is inflamed or infected, for example with acne or herpes, is not injected, and the product is not combined with laser treatment, deep chemical peels or dermabrasion.
It must never be injected into a blood vessel, which can block the vessel and starve tissue of blood. The US FDA names three serious filler complications: tissue death, vision problems up to blindness, and stroke.
In autoimmune disease, immunosuppressive therapy or a history of multiple severe allergies, the maker leaves the decision to the doctor case by case. People with repeated past streptococcal disease, or on anticoagulant medicine, should tell the doctor. The leaflet adds that it is not meant for breast augmentation or reconstruction. Bring a list of medicines, supplements, allergies and previous injections to the doctor before the injection.
Store at 2-25 °C, handle the fragile pack with care, and use the product before the expiry date printed on the label.
A syringe whose gel has separated or turned cloudy should not be used, the maker says.
That depends on your skin, the area and your health history. The maker's leaflet states the indications and contraindications of Juvederm Ultra 2, and the doctor decides which product suits you.
France; the leaflet carries the words Made in France.
Each syringe holds 0.55 mL (1 mL equals 1 cc) and a box holds 2 syringes, 1.1 mL in all, with two sterile 30G ½-inch needles, the leaflet and a set of traceability labels.
Allergan's other Juvederm types are Ultra XC, Ultra Plus XC, Volift, Voluma, Volbella, Volux and Volite. Ultra 2 has a leaflet of its own, separate from Ultra 3 and Ultra 4.
Thai spells it จูวีเดิม or จูวีเดิร์ม, and Juvederm is a trademark of Allergan.
The price depends on the model and the quantity.
