Juvederm Ultra 3 is a cross-linked hyaluronic acid gel filler with lidocaine from Allergan, an AbbVie company, made in France. It is a ready-to-use gel in single-use syringes.
The maker's leaflet describes Juvederm Ultra 3 as an injectable implant for filling mid and/or deep skin depressions by mid and/or deep dermis injection, and for lip definition and enhancement. It is for intradermal injection and injection into the lip mucosa only.
The leaflet says not to inject the periorbital area (eyelids, crow's feet) or the glabellar region, and to leave the under-eye area to specialists trained in that technique. The doctor chooses the area, depth and technique for each person.
Ultra 3 should not go to people with porphyria, untreated epilepsy, a tendency to hypertrophic scars, pregnancy or breastfeeding, or to children. The leaflet also excludes anyone hypersensitive to hyaluronic acid, to gram-positive bacterial proteins, or to lidocaine and other amide-type local anaesthetics.
The injection site must be free of inflammation and infection such as acne or herpes, and the product is not given alongside laser treatment, deep chemical peels or dermabrasion.
Injection into a blood vessel has to be avoided because the vessel can become blocked and the tissue lose its blood supply. The US FDA counts tissue death and vision problems up to blindness among the serious complications of fillers.
Before the injection, bring your medicine list, supplements, allergy history and earlier injections to the doctor. Anyone on an anticoagulant or with repeated streptococcal disease in the past must say so. For autoimmune disease, immunosuppressive therapy or several severe allergies, the maker asks the doctor to decide case by case, and the product is not intended for breast augmentation or reconstruction.
The storage range is 2-25 °C. The pack can break, so handle it gently, and do not use it after the expiry date printed on the label.
If the gel inside a syringe looks cloudy or has separated into layers, the maker says to leave that syringe unused.
That depends on your skin, the area and your health history. The maker's leaflet states the indications and contraindications of Juvederm Ultra 3, and the doctor decides which product suits you.
Annecy, France. The leaflet gives the manufacturer's address there.
A box holds 2 syringes of 1 mL each, 2 mL in total (1 mL equals 1 cc), plus four sterile 27G ½-inch needles, the leaflet and traceability labels.
Allergan lists seven other Juvederm types: Ultra XC, Ultra Plus XC, Volift, Voluma, Volbella, Volux and Volite. Ultra 3 has its own leaflet, apart from Ultra 2 and Ultra 4.
Thai writers use จูวีเดิม or จูวีเดิร์ม for it. The name Juvederm is Allergan's trademark.
The price depends on the model and the quantity.
