Juvederm Ultra Plus XC is a cross-linked hyaluronic acid filler with lidocaine, made in France by Allergan Aesthetics, an AbbVie company. It is a gel in a pre-filled single-patient syringe.
The maker's leaflet gives one indication: correcting moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the nasolabial folds.
According to the maker's leaflet it must not be used in people with a history of severe allergy reaching anaphylaxis or a history of multiple severe allergies, people allergic to gram-positive bacterial protein that may be present in trace amounts, and people with a history of allergy to lidocaine.
The maker has not established safety for pregnant or breastfeeding women or anyone under 18. Caution applies to people on immunosuppressive treatment, and to those taking aspirin, NSAIDs, warfarin or other substances that prolong bleeding, since bruising or bleeding may be greater.
The maker lists redness, swelling, pain, firmness, lumps, discolouration and bruising as common reactions at the injection site.
Whether it is a good choice depends on your skin and health history. Ultra Plus XC is indicated for moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, and the injecting doctor judges whether it fits you.
Yes. Anyone with a past allergy to lidocaine should tell the doctor before the injection.
France. The leaflet for Ultra Plus XC gives France as the country of manufacture.
Keep it at room temperature up to 25 °C and never freeze it. Use it before the expiry date on the label; the maker says not to use any syringe whose gel is not clear.
The price depends on the model and the quantity.
