What is Juvederm Volux?

Juvederm Volux is a cross-linked (BDDE) hyaluronic acid filler made in France by Allergan Aesthetics, an AbbVie company. It is a clear, colourless gel in pre-filled syringes, two 1 mL syringes per box.

In short

  • The hyaluronic acid is produced from Streptococcus bacteria and adjusted to 25 mg/mL, in a buffer solution. The gel is sterile.
  • Buyers should not inject it themselves; a licensed healthcare provider gives the injection.
  • Volux belongs to the Vycross technology group of the Juvederm brand. The maker says never to re-sterilise it and not to use it if the package is open or damaged. Thai-label, import and KFDA packs are offered.

Where is Volux filler used according to the leaflet?

The maker's leaflet and the FDA record give one indication: jawline definition in adults over 21. The US FDA recorded approval P110033/S065 on 29 July 2022, with Allergan as the applicant.

Risks and who should not use it

According to the maker's leaflet it must not be used in people with a history of severe allergy reaching anaphylaxis or a history of multiple severe allergies, or in people allergic to gram-positive bacterial protein that may be present in trace amounts.

Safety has not been established for pregnant or breastfeeding women or people under 22, the maker states. People having immunosuppressive treatment should use it with caution, as should anyone on aspirin, NSAIDs, warfarin or other substances that prolong bleeding, who may bruise or bleed more.

It must never be injected into a blood vessel, which can block the vessel, cut off blood supply or cause tissue death. In the maker's studies the reactions seen at the injection site were swelling, lumps and discolouration.

Frequently asked questions

Can Juvederm Volux be used as a jawline and chin filler?

Its indication in the leaflet is jawline definition. Any other area is a decision for the injecting doctor, so consult a licensed doctor first.

Is Juvederm filler good?

It depends on the area you want and your health history. Volux is indicated for jawline definition, and the injecting doctor decides whether it suits you.

Where is Juvederm Volux made?

In France, as stated in the Volux leaflet.

How should Juvederm Volux be stored?

Store at room temperature, not above 25 °C, do not freeze, and do not use after the expiry date on the label. If the gel in a syringe is not clear and colourless or contains particles, the maker says not to use that syringe.

How much is Juvederm Volux?

The price depends on the model and the quantity.
