Restylane Lyft Lidocaine is a hyaluronic acid (HA) filler gel with 0.3% lidocaine hydrochloride, made by Q-Med AB (Galderma) in Sweden and supplied in a 1 mL glass syringe.
The indications in the maker's documents are shaping the contours of the face, correcting facial folds and creases, enhancing the lips, and enhancing the cheeks and correcting age-related midface contour deficiencies.
The doctor chooses the injection site, depth and technique to suit each person.
According to the Instructions for Use, the maker says it should not be used in people with a history of streptococcal protein allergy, because the gel may contain traces of it; in people with severe allergies, such as a history of anaphylaxis; or in people allergic to lidocaine or amide-type local anaesthetics.
It must never be injected into a blood vessel, as this can block the vessel and cut off or kill tissue. Rare serious events have been reported, including abnormal vision or blindness, stroke or brain bleeding, and skin necrosis. If vision changes, stroke-like symptoms, blanching of the skin or unusual pain appear during or soon after the injection, injection must stop at once and a doctor be seen.
Use should be postponed if the treatment area or nearby skin is inflamed, infected or has a tumour. People who bruise or bleed easily, or take medicines affecting platelets, thrombolytics or anticoagulants, may have more bruising or bleeding at the site. The maker says safety in pregnancy, breastfeeding and under 18 years has not been established.
Expected reactions include bruising, redness, itching, swelling, and pain or tenderness at the injection site. The maker says they usually go away within a few days to a week.
Avoid intense sun, UV and extreme temperatures until the first swelling and redness settle, and ask the injecting doctor before laser, chemical peels or other skin-stimulating procedures.
No. Only a doctor or licensed medical provider should inject it, because accidental injection into a blood vessel is a serious risk in the maker's warnings.
It is from Sweden, made by Q-Med AB in Uppsala, part of the Galderma group that owns the Restylane brand.
It varies by person and by treatment area, and the injecting doctor explains it. The gel is hyaluronic acid, which is biodegradable.
Store at no more than 25 °C, do not freeze, and keep out of direct sunlight. It is single-use, so the syringe, needle and any remainder are discarded right after the procedure.
It contains 0.3% lidocaine hydrochloride to reduce pain during the injection.
The price depends on the model and the quantity.
