Restylane Skinboosters Vital Light Lidocaine is a stabilized hyaluronic acid (HA) skin booster gel of non-animal origin with 0.3% lidocaine hydrochloride, made by Q-Med AB (Galderma) in Sweden and supplied in a 1 mL glass syringe.
The maker says Vital Light is used to restore the skin's moisture balance (hydrobalance) and to improve skin structure and elasticity.
The box reads Restylane Skinboosters Vital Light Lidocaine (Injectable Gel with Lidocaine). The maker advises the doctor to explain the risks and the signs of complications before the injection, and to give aftercare advice.
The Instructions for Use rule out people with a history of streptococcal protein allergy, because the gel may contain traces of it; people with severe allergies, such as a history of anaphylaxis; and people allergic to lidocaine or amide-type local anaesthetics.
Injection into a blood vessel is not allowed, as it can block the vessel. Rare severe events, including blindness and tissue death, have been reported. Stop and see a doctor if vision changes, the skin turns pale or there is unusual pain.
The maker says to postpone use if the injection area or nearby skin is inflamed, infected or has a tumour, and not to use it in people with severe abnormal bleeding. Safety in pregnancy, breastfeeding and under 18 years has not been established.
The maker lists bruising, redness, itching, swelling, and pain or tenderness at the injection site, which usually clear within a few days to a week.
While swelling and redness remain, avoid intense sun, UV and extreme temperatures, and ask the injecting doctor before laser, chemical peels or other skin-stimulating procedures.
No. Vital Light is an injectable gel, so a doctor has to do the injection; the maker warns that a needle straying into a blood vessel can cause serious harm.
Q-Med AB, based in Uppsala, Sweden. It forms part of the Galderma group, which owns the Restylane brand.
Store at no more than 25 °C, do not freeze, and keep out of sunlight. It is single-use, so the syringe, needle and any remainder are discarded right after the procedure.
Lidocaine hydrochloride at 0.3% is in the gel so the injection hurts less.
The price depends on the model and the quantity.
